Aankhen - Kissi ki aankhen na laag jaaye

Aankhen is the story of Vijay Kumar Rajput (Amitabh) a sincere and honest Bank Manager of Vilasrao Jefferson Bank who has put in more than 20 years of service for the upliftment of the bank. He has remained unmarried so that his devotion towards his work is not diverted towards his family.

Vijay Kumar is a Schiziophrenic patient who loses his temper when he sees something wrong and in fit of rage he manhandles the person who has committed any mistake. Many such instances has created a wrong image amongst the Board of Directors of the Bank. On one occasion he bashes a bank clerk who has siphoned a petty sum from one of the account holder of the bank. This leads to termination of Vijay Kumar’s services.

In a fit of rage he decides to rob the very same bank where he has served and won lots of awards during his tenure of service. He once watches Neha Shrivastava (Sushmita Sen) training a group of blind men and he is impressed by her talent and he decides to use her talent to train three blind men to rob the bank. To make her agree for this project he kidnaps Neha’s younger brother and asks her to train the blind men if she wants to get her brother back.

He arranges to get three blind men Akshay Kumar who has become blind by an accident, Paresh Rawal a blind beggar begging on train and Arjun Ramphal to Neha to get trained to rob the bank. These three are not aware as to who is behind this plot though Akshay’s sixth sense always tells him that there is someone behind all this none of the three are aware.

First half of the movie moves around training the three.

The second half is the actual bank robbery. Though the training session was excellent the actual robbery is not as gripping as the training was shown.

After robbery the three blind men changes the plan and double crosses Vijay Kumar and moves away with the loot.

Whether they return the loot to Vijay Kumar, whether Neha is able to save her brother from the captivity of Vijay Kumar and whether the three blind men are caught or escapes from the clutch of law is the story of AANKHEN.

Performance wise Amitabh as Vijay Kumar Rajput is just marvelous his role which moves from a honest bank manager to a person for the sake of revenge who master minds the robbery is excellent. Big B has proved that even at this age he can excel all the other artists in a movie.

Sushmita has performed well in the role of a instructor.

As three blind men Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar and Arjun Ramphal has performed extremely well.

It is good that there are limited number of songs which gives lesser scope for the viewers to move out during the movie.

It is shown that the story is based on a gujarati novel titled ’Aandhlo Patlo’.   However the basic story seems to be inspired by the Hollywood movie “Blind Rage”.

Whatever it may be the movie just keeps you glued to your seat.

Keep it up Amitabh, keep on proving the world that you are the only superstar of Bollywood.
