Jai jai jai shiv shankar

Though it doesn’t have the lavish sets or special effects of today’s movies, Aap ki Kasam is a groundbreaking movie. Rajesh Khanna and his wife Mumtaz are normal, middle class people living in the suburbs. One day they meet their new neighbor, a bachelor played by Sanjeev Kumar. Sanjeev Kumar often drops in, and Rajesh Khanna becomes suspicious. Because he assumes that his wife is having an affair, everything Khanna sees seems to point towards that conclusion. Everything builds to a climax, and finally Mumtaz goes to live at her parents’ home. She becomes mentally ill because she can’t bear the thought of his suspicion. She is only able to recover through the care and constant attention of her parents and the doctor. In the meantime Rajesh Khanna learns that his suspicions were in fact unfounded and that he has committed a terrible, terrible mistake. I won’t reveal the ending, but I will tell you that the ending is definitely NOT what you would expect. All three actors do a great job, and Mumtaz looks gorgeous the entire time. This movie is famous for the song ’’Jai jai shiv shankar’’.
