I was definitely sure that this play is going to be excellent, but I was wrong. ‘Mere Ummedon par pani phir gaya!’.
‘Aapnaj Ghar Ma No Entry’ literally means ‘Apne Hi Ghar Mein No Entry’ in Hindi.
The Story of the drama: Marzichand (Dinesh Hingu) is a retired bank officer. He has everything in life. He has a sweet and loving wife Lalita (Minal Karpe). He also has two well-tempered and dutiful sons Anand (Sachin Parikh) and Prem (Manish Mehta). They both are happily married to Khushi (Shilpa Mehta) and Maya (Disha Savla) respectively. Prem was a very funny and angry man who had a nice friendship with Shiv Sainiks. He had so much power that he can even call a ‘bandh’ in Mumbai! And his wife Maya also used to get angry very fast. Both used to shout at each other throughout the play. Anand was a ‘normal’ type of son. His wife Khushi was a great lover of cooking and dance and used to cook everytime for his family members
Now all the Marzichand’s family members loved Marzichand. They used to take care of him everytime. It mostly happens that the sons get angry when his father retires. But here it was the opposite. Both Anand and Prem loved their dad very much. But Marzichand was upset because of all this. He wanted some privacy in order to spend his time with his wife Lalita. But Anand, Prem, Maya and Khushi did not wanted his father to be left alone. In anger, he threw his sons and their wives out of the house. He even gave them separate houses. So is the privacy the sole reason for Marzichand’s such behaviour? If it is not the only reason, then what is the other reason??
Dinesh Hingu (the doctor and the travel agent of ‘No Entry’; Mr. Batliwalla of ‘Khoobsurat’ movie) was the saving grace of the play. Without him, the play would have been total flop. He has returned to theatre after nearly 18 years. But I can’t understand that why did he accept to do this stupid play.
Minal Karpe was okay and played her part properly. Sachin Parikh was good and nice in acting. Shilpa Mehta’s acting was nice but her voice was is not good.
Manish Mehta and Disha Savla are also the saving grace of the play. The scenes where they used to shout and fight at each other were hilarious. Manish Mehta as the manager of South Indian restaurant was entertaining.
Uday Majumdar’s music was nice and okay-okay types. Songs were totally third class. I wonder what made the director to put these songs in the play. Tushar Joshi’s direction was good but not perfect. Dialogues were another saving grace
The biggest shortcoming of the play was the climax where Marzichand reveals the truth. There was no suspense and the main reason for which Marzichand threw his sons out of his house was silly and worse and it made the whole play a flop. The play was entertaining and humorous but as the story progressed, the play became more boring and less entertaining.
On the whole, Aapnaj Ghar Ma No Entry is a nice, entertaining play but just because of its climax it goes totally waste. My piece of advice would be that please avoid this play. If you are a huge Dinesh Hingu fan (I don’t think there would be any) and if you have got totally bored and want a bit humour, then only watch it
