Robin cook has writen some bad books n some good books. This is one of his best as I see it. It cleverly depicts the human fantasies n emotions.
Well I first read this book on the recommendation of two of my pals here, sensiva n loverboy4u_17. I think they proved right. In so many mythologies n scripts there is a mention of underground life. Here it is shown in detail. Even the Atlantis is depicted. It stands for futuristic technology n new means of everything - travel, living n communication. And all this cant be unreal too. I say it can be done n in the near future. Some of the things in the novel may not be just fiction - time travel, evolution n other mysteries unexplainable by man.
All in all it shows the human nature - the greed, the free spirit, the unwillingness to be held against the will of us the humans. We, humans tend to cross check every thing. Comparisons n imaginations are inevitable. We compare ourselves to the ever-wishable Interterrans as to how we are, our way of living, our stance in the universe. We look back on our general habits n ways of livin g reading through the novel n wonder if we are really like that. We asess ourselves.
Robin Cook has beautifully blended science n the myth of heaven. And he has preserved the myths of heaven - immortality, liesure, freedom from work, forever pleasure, beauty n luxury. He has wonderfully created this novel to the minutest details. He goes through the narration at ease until the end. Alas he has put a dim end to his best work. Of course some people agree with him n like the end no doubt coz they guess there wasnt much to do at that stage.
An excellent subject. A very good read. A good author. A bad ending. But go on n read it.
