Abduction is different from the usual medical thrillers by Robin Cook. It is a fast-moving novel with new surprises on every page. Abduction is a fine blend of reality and fantasy. Although it appears to be full of fantasy, I cannot deny that it has a touch of reality to it.
It is a relief to find a change from the usual medical thrillers from Cook. The presence of Mohorovicic discontinuity between the earth’s crust and the mantle and the mystery surrounding it, which is the main basis of the novel, made me feel that the fiction by Cook may be a reality unknown to us.
The mystery of the island of Atlantis, the volcanoes and the earthquakes below the ocean floor that are unexplainable by the scientists and the mysteries of the dark period of the earth which has baffled scientists over the years have been dealt with very beautifully. Cook has found answers to these mysteries through the fantasies of Abduction.
The author deals with subjects such as jealousy, wickedness and selfishness of humans wonderfully. The ending of the novel is the most brilliant part. One could not have given a better ending to the novel.
All in all, Abduction is a must read for all Cook fans. You simply cannot put it down once you start reading.
