Speechless

Sometimes you just can’t find words to describe an experience.Abhay is one of those self-indulgent films which only the film-maker and the actor can explain.Even attempting to prepare you for the movie is a Herculean task for me, so perhaps its better to stick with the observations in the cinema.

Kamal Hassan is clearly the biggest strength, yet also it’s biggest drawback. An infinetly gifted actor he delivers yet another two spirited performances(double role) and deserves credit for the quirks he uses to make both parts different from each other.

On the flip side Abhay is a long showreel for the actor devoid of strong screenplay and premise.Talented performers like Manisha Koirala and Kitu Gidwani are wasted and dumped by the wayside in the interest of Hassan.Surprisingly Raveena Tandon makes her presence felt even though she has a largely ornamental role.

If you are able to sit through the film it is purely because of Hassan but I wish that he chooses smart films which would enhance his performance
