Shopping - o.k ; movies - big NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

First things first, for those who want to know about Abhirami Mall in chennai, I’ve enclosed a synopsis sent to me by my friend sometime back.

Here it comes,

The Abhirami Mega Mall, promoted by Mr. Abirami Ramanathan was inaugurated by film star Kamal Hassan on 24 October 2003.

Abhirami Mega Mall is Chennai?s only destination that combines a world class shopping arcade with spectacular entertainment, five cinema halls, multilevel shopping and the choicest of food courts including a uni-que roof top drive-in movie theatre and restaurant.

The mall encloses the erstwhile Abhirami, Bala Abhirami, Annai Abhirami and Shakti Abhirami theatres in it. The mega mall has been designed in such a way that the existing theatres remain untouched by change.

There are Car lifts with the road view taking you to the top to the drive-in restaurant and digital theatre on the terrace. It has a retractable roof with automatic sensor that will immediately shut even if a drop of rain touches it.

Level one of the complex has a food court with an arresting 32-ft statue of Greek Goddess Isis. The roof, is a visual treat of pai-ntings reminiscent of Egypt. The regular element in the various levels of themall are the Egyptian paintings. The credit for these paintings goes to P. Ramachandran who is also the designer of the Isis statue.

The statue is claimed to be the biggest ever fibre-glass work in Chennai. While the Egyptian works link the different levels, a huge painting called Abirami Mega Mall Hall of Fame, featuring a clutter of Tamil stars, anchors the building?s present to its past.

The Mall is the first commercial building in the city with earthquake proof design. The shops will be open 365 days of the year till 11 p.m. A giant digital video screen flashing advertisements and happenings at the mega mall is put up on the outside of the building toattract passers-by. Besides the food court, which is called Abirami?s Planet Yumm and features multi-cuisines ranging from Chinese to Chettinad and even exotic sawarma chicken. Finedining restaurants are also planned.

O.K now on to my business,

If the reader is sharp, the individual can notice the line -The mega mall has been designed in such a way that the existing theatres remain untouched by change- actually it literally means the same.

The theatres are still in the primitive stage - Naam Bade Darshan Chote.

Worst : Sound systems, Seating arrangements, A/c functioning - Rest room (pls forget about it)

If you want to become a victim of Passive smoking - all you need to do is walk in to the theatre area during interval time - major smke filled zone.

this once again proves the fact that ’’All that glitters is not Gold ’’
