I had taken this ABN AMRO card somewhere in June 2005. Every month they charge me with one or the other charge. Even though I pay the bills some 10 clear days in advance through the cheque. They claim that the cheque was not reached on the due time.
Please note I never bought anything on that card at all. Every month they add some 50 or so( I guess that might have been "No Transaction Charge")Finally I got frustrated with them after three months along with the final payment, I attached the card cut into four pieces, a covering letter and cheque. After that I did not hear back from them.
After that they called me in 2007 and said that I had to pay some 3K + as outstanding, I explained them all the historic events how they had swindled me for a card that I had not used at all, but still they were quite rude and and finally I got irriated and stopped responding to them.
Yesterday(26th June 2009) One idiot from ABN AMRO Delhi called me up and said that I owed some 6K to them. After explaining all the facts he asked whether I had a NoC from them. I said that I never got that till now. So he said that it was my problem, he was not concerned about it. This time I got really wild and told him that I would not pay anything for a card that I never used at all. He started blackmailing me that he will put my name in RBIs defaulters list so I that would not be eligible for any loans in future. I informed him that even if he goes to the CBI or FBI also, I will not pay anything.
I remember my brother had faced such an issue earlier(probably 98/99) with ANZ Grindlays banks(now defunct), the bank agreed for a final settlement of 16K for the oustanding amount of 32K he owed them. Although he paid the settlement amount , they still kept his name into the RBIs list and kept on saying that unless he repays remaining they will not remove his name. So there is no gaurantee that they will remove it.
This ABN AMRO is the worst bank with a single ATM in the whole of Bangalore and employee goons in their call center. Please stay away from this
Updated: 09 July, My Car loan was rejected by Axis bank on the grounds of lower CIBIL rating, whereas Kotak approved my loan inspite of it. Of course, there are other factors to be considered I had a good payment record with my other credit cards and completely repaided my personal loan without any defaults. So go ahead boo these goons :-)
