*King Willem-I issued a royal decree on 29th of March 1824 creating Nederlandsche Handel-Maatschappij (NHM) aiming to revive trade between the Netherlands and the Dutch East Indies. NHM merged with De Twentsche Bank in 1964 to form Algemene Bank Nederland (ABN). Amsterdamsche Bank and Rotterdamsche Bank joined to become Amsterdam Rotterdam (Amro) Bank. Both the banks merged in 1991 as ABN AMRO Bank.
This bank is simply impossible as though is has set its roots deep in India but still follows its approache that might be followed from where it originated. My company has salary accounts with this stupid bank & here it goes .... the debit card that was issued to me was delayed by the bank for weeks & when it was given to me did not even have my name on it !! Then I tried to use my new card with a world class bank at retail shops -IT NEVER WORKED adding to my embarrassment ! I went to Vatika branch in Gurgaon to complain but no one was courteous enought to ask me what I am there for.
When I did found someone who was ready to know the reason for my visit I narrated him my story in brief. He asked me that the amount to be charged must be very high - I told him, we tried charging Rs.100/- even still it never worked showing a remark insufficient funds(a day before my salary was transferred). Then he said the card must be requiring activation , etc etc. I also told him that the card does not even work in your own ATM machines....
When ever I go to its ATM, the machine is always out of cash or is being repaired & the security guard has no clue as to what might be the possible reason!!
It is such a bad name in banks - functional wise & facility wise. It does not even have few ATMs around !! & if we do take out funds using another banks ATM (which I have to do) then whats the use of having an account with such a bank?? This bank does not serve any helpful purpose to me but pains.
It is simply not meant for India. I would rather recommend SBI, Punjab & Sind Bank, Bank of Baroda or for that matter ICICI & HDFC but never ABN.
Its directors are not ready to change their policies or procedures suitable to Indians but are imposing unnecessary pains for its account holders. Also, its net banking...no instructions are there to guide as to how to go about it. Now days everything on web is so easy & simple but not this banks website.
