The lists are composited by human specialists, named guides. Recently about.com is expanding their network internationally, so there is now also About India.
I like the simple lay-out of the site. It loads fast, and there is a good functioning search engine. All kind of topics are covered, from cricket to cross-stitch. You will find a lot of links, organized properly and checked out regularly. I never found broken links on about.com.
The soft spot of the site are the human guides. Some of them are excellent, other guides are not doing their jobs so well.
