I bought this laptop in Jan 2005. I was told it comes with Blue tooth but was not told that it only has a facility for in-built bluetooth and that we need to pay extra for it. Anyway, thats a small thing.
Hardly three months since I bought the laptop, I found that if I type fast, half the letter do not get recognized. When I contacted the ACER center they said that due to the slim design, this problem would be there. The position of PgDn, PgUp, Home and End keys are not comfortable as its to the extreme right in a vertical manner. If you are used to using MS Word and these keys quiet often in a traditional keyboard, this laptop will be a little irritating.
The 4 directional arrow keys that come along with the touchpad is a+ point but it never works for more than 2 months. It will crash and then you will have to install the application(software) once again to get it to work. So now I dont use that. Again its not worth it as one tends to use the normal arrow keys more often than this one.
The WXGA screen is pretty good but when compared to Sony Vaio K33(I own one of this too) this screen is only 75% as good as that. But definitely this is decent enough to watch a movie. The clarity is decent.
The battery will give u 4 or 5 hrs as they promise only under highly standard test conditions. In reality, right from day one, it gave me nothing more than 2hrs 50min. After 6months it degraded to less than 2hrs 15min. and now it starts at 1hr 10min and at the end of 35min, the battery will show only 5% remaining and shuts the system. Battery management software is very bad.
The position of Speakers is bad again. In the advertisements they say that it is positioned in such a way that it increases user interactivity, but this is bullshit. A song recorded at 128Kbps or higher will sound fine to some extent but anything below that is pretty bad. Say u are listening to the radio online or doing a voice chat in yahoo or msn, you will realise the that voice is not recognizable. This speaker cannot reproduce 96kbps voice with clarity. You will find a lot of disturbance. Its better to attach an external speaker to overcome this problem.
Initially I was not getting the problem of laptop heating up after 2hrs of usage but after a year, the hand rest started to get heated up like anything. Those who have used Dell Lattitude will know that near the arm rest it heats up due to the presense of battery or something, the same problem persists in this system.
