All of us have different types of restaurants etched in our minds... a kind to jump in rightaway and stuff the grub up !!! the kind to go with your family... good ambience and have a nice evening ...the kind to go with your friends.. now here we have the kind who just wanna talk and have great food, preferably fast food !!! but the ones we are discussing here is for the groups who are the Boozeers types. Well there are many such joints in each suburb of Mumbai, but in my hometown Chembur, our favorite is Adarsh Restaurant and Bar .
Situated an apple’s throw from the Railway station and the market place, right in the heart of Chembur is this restaurant. Skimpy parking place especially for two wheelers right in front of the restaurant is available. Four wheeler owners need not fret, the lanes nearby offer ample parking place. Entering the place, the cigarette smoke and the strong stench .. ooops .. fragrance of fine spirits engulf you !!! Now in case this place is stuffed they have a terrace open right in the 3rd floor.
What do we start with ? well Drinks of course ... no ones having goody goody milk here !!! they have , and sure must have a fine bar - all whiskeys , Vodkas, Rums, Gins and Beers are available .. Draught Beer too is available here. They follow the Quarter system so no probs .What does one get along with the drinks on the house ? hmmm Roasted Papads and boiled Channa with a sprinkling of masala. Masala papads are good too. Starters for the Veggies , the best bets are Veg or Cauliflower Manchurian Dry , Hara bara Kebabs , Panner Tikka and the like. I personally like the Masala Channa Dry .. succulent .. love to sink my teeth into.. types boiled Channa sauted well with uhmmm oil , onions , tomatoes and some liberal masala , what else can one ask for !!!
The second peg comes into play and the non vegetarians are cribbing , don’t worry pals .. Chicken Chilly Dry , Chicken Tandoori , Chicken Lollypop, Tandoori prawns are fab ..and please note this is primarily a Seafood joint . So need I say more.. The Eggs are fab , the Bhurji (scrambled eggs which are so filled with spice that if an Englishman eats it he will not need a flight back to London the fire in his belly will propel him there.. .) is marvelous.
What I like about this place is that all around you are drinking so no guilty feelings, stolen glances etc.. Wowie I am on a high .. I feel flushed .. I am laughing uncontrollably .. I feel great .. but faintly I hear clashes ..clashes of swords with swords .. a battle raging somewhere .. I glance down and I realize I am hungry !!! its my pooR tummy , I need to have some grub now..
Food here is very good I must say .. the butter naans and the Black Dal Makhni are amazing .. lip smacking. The Fried Rice, Noodles and all the Chinese gravies are great too. Fish curry with Rice is everyone’s favorite, not mine though , remember I am vegetarian. The Biryanis and all the Punjabi gravies are Fab .. so no problem just order you would surely like it..
Sheeeesh am stoned !!! so all of us pool in cash and there is sudden moving of tables.. chairs.. and odd chair falling down .. no there’s no fight its just our group leaving.
All in all a good place to have a drink and grub .. you will never find any women here so don’t get ur girlfriend or wife here. There is no Air-conditioning and the place is always crowded but don’t let that deter you folks.
