Want to be a professional picture editor? Ever felt like the particular picture of yours was very bad and needed a retouch? Or even felt like making a picture of you having a galla time at a place you have never been to? But don’t know much about these things? Then welcome to the world of the adobe Photoshop 7.
I got into the world of picture editing just for fun. I had a picture of some of my friends and I was so mischievous little boy that I gave them long ears, small noses and they all looked like the goblin from the movie Spiderman. But this was a good enough experience that made me stick on to the program and I use it regularly for giving all kinds of finishing to the pictures that I have.
I am not a regular traveler and haven’t been to much of the places outside south India, but then that is not to be told to anyone, right? I have pictures of me standing by the Taj Mahal, the Himalayan station, the Swiss Alps and all the other beautiful places. My friends couldn’t recognize the basic flaw in all the pictures. None of them were real. They were the marvels created from the Photoshop.
The great thing with the Photoshop is that it is really very easy to use even for a beginner. The texts are all very simple and you don’t need to know anything other than what you want to do with the picture. The rest as they say, is history.
Now to make my review, self-explanatory, I am taking the help of the adobe online help manual also. So I wont mislead you by making any blunders in my review. But then it is too much for me to digest. So I am only going through some of the features that I use, and which must be more than enough for the average and just above average photo editor.
Let me begin by saying about the picture-resizing tool . O.k., you can resize any picture and this gives you added space to work with. Take for example Ashi’s picture pasted on mouthshut. In the case there is the original picture and then there are the words mouthshut written on the side. It is very easy to do the same on Photoshop. Just resize the picture and add the words. It is as simple as that.
Then you might want to flip or rotate an image . If you keep the camera position sideways, then the picture when seen on the computer will be all ulta. So you might want to make it right. Problem? Not really. Just select the rotate tool and give the angle. You are done.
Now cropping the picture. Well, Photoshop defines cropping as ’’the process of removing portions of an image to create focus or strengthen the composition.’’ Well, I might say that you just cut a small portion from the big picture. O.k. I will give you an example. My picture pasted here on mouthshut. Oh! Thank you for saying that it is glamorous. Anyway, the picture is a cut- out from a picture of my group of friends. I just had to click on the crop tool and select the portion to be cut, and walla, I had a new picture to upload on mouthshut.
The cloning stamp tool is really useful in producing a replica in the image. Like see you want to show that you have two same cars, two Mercedes, it is too simple to do that, and is well worth the effort.
Now, the most important thing about the Photoshop and the tool which is most valuable is the healing tool . Like you have to make yourself look more beautiful or even remove that ugly pimple from your face, then just have to select the healing tool and click and edit the area.
The tool that I like the most is the Liquify tool . The adobe help manual describes the liquefy tool as ’’ The Liquify command lets you interactively scramble, push, pull, rotate, reflect, pucker, and bloat any area of an image . The distortions you create can be subtle or drastic, which makes the Liquify command a powerful tool for retouching images as well as creating artistic effects’’. Now in my simple words, you can do anything you want with this tool. Yeh! It does wonders to your photo and there is no other way to believe the magic of the tool other than to use it. It is that useful.
The tool makes a picture like a semifliud paste or something like that, not technically. But you can adjust the picture as you would with clay or other plastic materials. You can do almost anything and the work that I have done with perfection includes giving long ears and nose to my friends, cerate ordinary me look like the creature from Mars (Was an easy job. Lucky that my face looked like one already).
But then you could very well mess up a picture. But then also, as I mentioned the Photoshop is also designed to be very useful to the common man. You can go back on any number of steps or even revert back to the original image. So be a photo editor without having any fear of messing up.
The turbulence tools smoothly scrambles pixels. Now I don’t know much about this tool. I use it to smoothen the pictures. Especially on the face and all. If there are any marks or something like that on the face, then this tool is all that is needed to make your skin glowing as if you are the next Aiswarya.
I heard that the painting and drawing tools on the Photoshop are also very good, but then I cannot comment on that because I haven’t tried it out yet. There are so many features on the Photoshop that it is not at all possible to tried out all of them.
