The second track, Bulleya, rendered by Amit Mishra and Shilpa Rao, has a Sufi-rock feel to it. The guitar riffs in the prelude lend an infectious vibe. Also, Mishra, who has had hits likeManma Emotion Jaage fromDilwale andSau Tarah Ke fromDishoom, gives it a raw appeal with his high-pitched vocals. His voice not only conveys the mental state of Ranbir???s character who is hopelessly in love but also adds an energetic feel to the number. His vocals are juxtaposed with Rao???s mellow voice.
The theme of heartbreak and turmoil runs through the third track, Channa Mereya, too. Arijit???s voice captures the nuances of Ranbir???s character, who is battling his emotions as he sees his beloved get betrothed to someone else. Western instruments like acoustic guitar, electric and bass guitar are fused with Indian musical instruments like dholak, sarangi and shehnai. The result is a melodious number that stays with you long after the track is over.
