Poor and unprofessional work
Letter to apm
1. I utilised the services of the famous and well reputed apm to shift my house hold luggage and car from gwalior to gopalpur.
2. I was shocked at the quality of packing and the way my car was transported.
Household luggage.
(a) packing was atrocious, all short cut methods were used to while away the time.
(b) the local packing mtrl was demanded from me such as newspapers, used paper cartons etc. It was provided on good faith .
(c) since it was my first experience with apm I thought his is what it is supposed to be like.
(d) the staff literally demanded the “tip” after the loading was completed, which is against the reputation of the company like apm.
(e) the horror story started when the unloading was done at destination:
(i) the first item to be unloaded were the 3xcycles( ladies and sports cycles) which was totally in an unrecognised state. The handles were broken, rims of the tyres bent, baskets broken. They were not packed at all. It was told "as per the policy of the company these are not packed, but safety is ensured".
(ii) then there was a decorative wooden crate which was in pieces and was only to be thrown.
(iii) when the cartons were opened now after I got the house and was trying to settle things by opening the various packages the shock and breakages were unacceptable. The drawers with children stationary, decorative small crystal pieces, cosmetic items from dressing tables, cuteleries, etc etc were just emptied in cartons, 80% of items were broken/depleted/
Deformed.
(iv) cartons were packed in a totally disorganised manner. The same carton contained items of toileteries and stationary or drawing room items.
(v) the packing when supervised was done satisfactorily. But when left to your staff, those fragile items of kitchen/bar/ drawing room was packed in the most hurried manner without been bothered about the fragility of the item and hence have been broken. All glass and crystal lamps(collected over a period of time from all terrains of india with invaluable cost) have been found in a broken state.
(vi) 20% of furniture has been broken due to unprofessional poor packing.
(vii) all flower pots are broken.
(viii) the refrigerator has a crack in the body, was to be repaired at a very heavy cost.
(ix) there are very many points of annoyance.
Car
(a) it took more than 20 days to reach me.
(b) I was told a maximum of one week.
(c) I was horrified to know from the driver of the truck that 4-5 times the car was loaded/unloaded on different trucks.
(d) the new battery of the car was dead.
3. I want to inform you that in my 22 years of service I have moved like this atleast 8 times, everytime packing was done by me and there has been no brakages/losses. This is the first time I have incurred not only inconvenience of time wastages in repairing the broken items due to unprofessional quality of packing but also it has costed me a lot of money. On my own packing this move would have costed me just half the price I have paid to apm.
4. I have spent around rs 35000/- on repair/replacement of various items, and I request the management kindly to share the burden.
5. I think this is the first and last association of mine with apm after the experience. It is also my earnest duty to convey the same to my colleagues in uniform. Ours is a very very hard earned money which can not be wasted like this especially due to negligence by apm, so called "a professional outfit". I have paid extra money for my comfort which has become a nightmare and a regret of life time.
Regards & regrets
