The whole experience was kind of ok at the beginning, in Goa, and a disaster at the
end, Pondicherry, the destination branch.
Also, I have in process a claim for reinbursement of damaged goods that were
insured, but it seems that this insurance is just sort of a scam, with improper
procedures, like the people who caused the damage are the same people who do
the survey to assess damage, where it should be a third party.
I absolutely dont reccomend GOA PONDICHERRY, expecially PONDICHERRY
branch as they are totally incompetent. Just to make an example, I am also writing
detailed emails to customer care and claim emails, in the first place they told the
drive that the unloading that was supposed to happen on saturday 29 may would be
postponed to Monday without any reason. After involving Goa branch supervisor I
finally got the promise that the unloading would happen on the due date. On
saturday morning the diver arrived in time and managed to park the truck in front of
my gate in rear gear. But there were no labors. After several phone calls we found
out that the labors were at some junction a few kms away without trasnsport.
Pondicherry branch manager, Mr Sandeep, insisted that the driver should go and
pick them, while the big truck was already in position, after difficult rear gear
manouvres as my alley is very small. Nobody has informed the driver that he had to
pick them up. Actually driver and Sandeep didnt have each others number, at least
so it seemd. At the end my friend had to go and pick the labors, two at the time, with
the scooter.
AS soon as the labours arrived we realized they were totally untrained and on top of
that they were opening the plastic wrap with their bare hands, they didn’t have a
cutter or a scissor. After 3 hours of work one of them remembered that they had a
tool bag where there was only a small blade, smaller than my children nail cutter….
The whole day went on tragically. At the beginning they said they were only movers
and would not open the packs, nor remove the packing material. after intervention of
Goa branch, mr Vipin, who expressly told me not to pay them until they open the
packs and collect the cartons and plastic, they accepted to do it.
They didn’t manage to do even half of the work. When I saw how slow they were I
told then to open only the furniture and told them to leave the boxes (which we
opened one by one the next day).
Also, they didn’t manage to take a cabinet upstairs and they were clearly not capable
to disassemble it and reassemble it.
I had to micro manage everything they did, as they were not handling the things
properly, banging everything, they didn’t even know the difference between the
yellow tape and the white tape.
I could hardly believe that they were really Agarwal people.
Nevertheless they came in Agarwal s name, so it is your responsibility to check the
quality of the branches…
At the end I paid the labour charges of 5000 agreed in Goa while Sandeep wanted
me to pay 6000. At the end the labours begged me for tip and even though they
were terribly incompetent they worked very hard all day and so I tipped them as
none of this is their fault nevertheless…
Another thing… the packing material was not collected by Agarwal who should have
sent a truck to collect it with the labours but it didn’t happen. Material was collected by now of those guys who go around the villages collecting carton paper, the labours
- non even I - sold it to him…
So, no 5 stars, not even 2 stars… HALF STAR. I could have hired a private labor
team and it would have been much better… I realized too late that this team was
basically untrained and incompetent
Goa branch was ok, even though they also made some mistakes in packing so
certain things were broken, some insured, some not insured…
But that’s another chapter for the claims department…
