I recently shifted from Bangalore to Pune and after tons of dilemma, research, word of advice and caution; selected ’Agarwal Packers and Movers DRS Group’ for my shifting needs; although they quoted pretty high then others. It cost me around 27k from Bangalore to Pune; for approx. full truck load and Insurance on few items.(Insurance is Joke, to extract extra money, & they do charge some more extra charges apart from taxes around 500 or so.)
However I still took that, trusting that they are a Big name in Industry. BUT I was WRONG -
1) Crockery - Most items they broke.
2) Glass Photo frames - They broke.
3) Insured most of items were fine, BUT I have one Very big Mattress for my double bed and I insured it as well. They broke it in 2. Till date I am running after them for Insurance Payment. If anyone knows how to take them to task will be great help.
4) I have 2 double beds and I was promised that they will assemble them, when they deliver the stuff in Pune; they just dumped the stuff - No assembly - was told some carpenter will come - None Came Ever; I myself found some guy and got it done on my own cost.
5) Few items we specifically told that must not get wet, so pack accordingly - example Rice Bag of 100kg etc. - No care - It must have rained in between the truck transport and now Rice, Dals etc. are wet - with loads of small germs grown due to humidity - had to throw them - pure loss.
6) Packing - Way Stupid then u can think. All they know is make carton fill whatever they see and wrap n roll over.
7) When I was chasing these guys initially in Pune for assembly, Insurance; I was given a number of some manager/big guy I think; he never took my phone initially, however I keep pestering for 2-3 days continuously - he picked once n told he will see to insurance and assembly; But nothing changed.
8) LAST but not least - Packing guys, Loading guys, Unloading guys - ALL want bakhshish(TIP), they keep on pestering, finally when I said ok 100bucks should be good, they start negotiations for 500+. Awesome company - first u pay them above market rates and then there guys will negotiate hard at both ends. Conclusion - Never Take DRS or anyone else - If you are shifting, try to sell as many items as u can which u think r xtra burden or load and breakeven. Rest pack yourself properly and if u know private truckers - move yourself or Negotiate with packers only for moving, loading, unloading.
