Hey, I just stumbled on to this Air- India topic. And all that I can hear is people whine and cry about how bad the service is , how bad the food is and how bad the people working for Air India are.
Well lets all take a look at reality here and hey I am not acting like a know it all, but guess what I do know a little and am willing to stand up for AIR INDIA. First a little background. I am a flight attendant for a major charter company in the US of A. So that means I travel a lot not only on my aircraft but as part of my job I travel a lot of other airlines, and if you thought Air India is bad , then buddy you are in for a rude shock. Because you see that Air India is one of the few air lines remaining that actually does a little service on board with a little bit of class. Another shock to some maybe that actually lots of people travel Air India by choise, Infact last week both flights from New York John F Kennedy Airport were over sold by 110 each.
Try to travel by some of the major airlines, will ya? If you think air india dosent treat you well, You will find that other airlines treat you like a ticket number. Try sending your child on other airlines, as an unaccompanied minor, that child will be half scared to death because the cabin staff in fear of getting sued donot even touch the child if not needed. at least air india staff no matter how mean they are, atleast one of them takes care of the child. How can I be so confident? well I have travelled as a minor and have fond memories of it. Fine I do agree that the air india staff can be very rude, but try travelling british airlines for once, you will realise how good you have it onboard air india.
As for the ticket agent and the gate agents, please dont complain, try dealing with tired and angry passengers minimum of 8 hrs a day 6 days a week and I want to know how good humoured you are and for how long. Least we can do here is try to be nice to those people rather than aggrevating the situation for them.
Last but not the least. The food. Some of the MS members wrote that the food was bad. I think they need to travel by other major carriers that offer food that can hardly feed a child, and please dont over do the whole tray service part, every airline adheres to a certain standard service level, and by far air india exceeds those levels.
Hey just pointing out when I am talking about food, one major carrier asks you to bring in your own food, and if incase you forget to do so, they feed you pretzels and potato chips, and this I am talking on a 6 hr flight. So have heart and realise that air india is actually doing better than you think. And hey it is the only national airline to cover the world. Being critical is fine, but actually dismissing something as bad just because we dont know something better is on another level altogether.
