I was travelling from NY(JFK) to Ahmadabad(AMD), INDIA. Air India flight AI102 on June 4th 2013. See how it started.
First I was at the check in counter they weighed my carry on bags one was 9 Kgs and other was 7 kgs so in total it was 16 KGs and the check in desk representative didnt say anything about the weights. When I boarded the flight one old flight Steward came and said sir we cant take this 9 kg bag on our flight you need to check in this bag and pay$200 I said why do I need to check in the bag when your representative at the check in desk allowed this baggage. Old steward replied in a rude tone, Sir we dont know what they do at the check in counter we cant take this bag on flight. Then I said can I speak to a manager, than he called a manager he came and I told him the issue, he said sir if both the carry on baggages have in total 16 KGs than we dont have any problem and he allowed the baggage. So here you see two different people telling two different things. By this I understood the management is very poor & Air India staff dont have manners to talk with a customer politely.
I strongly suggest never ever travel thru Air India the worst flight & customer service ever I have seen in my entire life. This was the first time I traveled from Air India and I faced these problems. I always take Etihad flight for international travel, never had a single complaint or issues with them in last 7 years of USA-India travel.
I WILL NEVER TRAVEL WITH AIR INDIA EVER AND WILL SPREAD EXPERIENCE ABOUT YOUR RUDE AND WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE TO THE WORLD. AT LEAST FEW PEOPLE WILL BE SAVED FROM YOUR WORST SERVICE.
