Ranjeet Katyal(Akshay) is an arrogant indian born kuwaiti businessman based out of kuwait with contacts and money. He means business and an expert in negotiations. Married to Amrita( Nimrat) and forgotten his roots to india is happily leading a successful life but as iraq evades kuwait soon he find himself along with his family and other indians stranded in foreign soil. Will be turn saviour or failure to get 175000 indians out of danger?
"Airlift" is the most untold story of indias rare heroic acts on a foreign soil where a large scale evacuation was executed and got lakhs of indian stranded in kuwait back to base. It ignites the love for motherland with all its crisp oneliners, sequences and scenes. Especially when indian flag is hoisted at the airport one gets goosebumps to scream loud"bharat mata ki jai". Also it captures of many indians living in foreign soil.Very well made and executed. Akshay in his latest avatar of patriotism post Baby and Holiday evokes right emotions and is the new age Manoj Kumar. Though like baby he might not be able to make to best actor category yet again but will win many hearts. Nimrat has been aptyl casted as his nagging and understanding wife who keeps up the pep factor. Best part of the movie was its direction and authentic cinematography with soothing songs. But again special credit to director Raja Menon who take such a brave step of digging out indias biggest evacuation stories out of grave and presenting us with something every indian anywhere will be proud of.
