I had purchased a Airtel 3G dongle and airtel prepaid sim card no 7893014102 on 3/5/11.I used this sim for 3G services via Airtel dongle for almost an year when it was abruptly disconnected on 14/4/2012. I approached the customer care team at 198 for possible support. But shockingly they told me that the above mobile no is not an Airtel number and please give me a valid number. One can imagine the big surprises that a person can get when he comes to know that the product that was supposed to be his is being told that it does not belong to him. I had been using this mobile number to do important tasks via 3G internet and I have personally incurred huge loss because I cannot complete some important tasks on time.
Subsequently I approached the A.P.(Hyderabad) appellate officer Ms Rita on 30/4/12 Ref # 1043093053035100 . She informed me that because the above mobile number was not in use from past 60 days so its services have been discontinued. This was really annoying to me because I swear that I have been using this number for browsing for almost 1 year and they were completely wrong and they could have done proper checks to see the usage logs for past 11 months or so. Finally she said that she could not help any further.
Lastly I approached the appellate authority via email and I got a call from Mr Akhilesh on 17/5/12 who told me another reason. He said that the services were discontinued due to failed verification.It was height of nuisance to believe his words because why they were quite for almost an year if that was the reason.
All the responses that I got from every Airtel representatives whom I contacted was contradictory and baseless. I am really disturbed that these representatives from renowned organisation never owe any responsibility and care towards customer.The fact is that they never even gave me any reminder or alert before discontinuing the services of my mobile no 7893014102.They did not have that much courtesy towards customer who is left to grieve. When I replied back to Akhilesh asking for the process of making an appeal and further escalation I did not receive any response.
It was a harrowing experience for me.
