I was not happy with the earlier ads of airtel.it just showed shahrukh or kareena repeating the same lines they said for pepsi except for the fact that they hold a cell phone in their hand now. The marketing officials probably were searchin for an invisible brand(hey its not the handset but the SIM card inside that they r gonna talk bout.......). ’’so how about emotions..? ’’they must have thought.
They already had a beautiful tune composed by the great Rahman himself. (I rate this tune on par to the Titan tune which was also composed by him). And then the people went in search of situations where the way you express emotions may make a change. And look how good it is.
What more can u expect......u feel goosebumps all over when u hear the music reach a crescendo and the tiny lads lift up the candles! and to top it all the ad is in black and white with the characters and the text providing the colour. Excellent ad. But how does it help the brand airtel. Yes! u guessed it right. It has a got a face now. Not in the form of shahrukh or kareena but in the form of emotions. The ad doesnt coax or cajole u to buy the airtel cards but it does make u feel happy wherever u see the name ’’airtel’’ followd by the two words ’’express urself’’.
However does the ad help in anyway to make the ppl realise what they can do with the airtel prepaid cards? some people do wonder what the ad is all about? some thought that it was a social message by some organisation for peace. And did it improve the sales figure of the company? Now, I am not a stats person and I feel it will be better for me to sit back and enjoy the ad whenever it appears.
Such beautiful ads may compel people from not changing channels whenever the ads appear ’’in between’’ the programme (or am I saying the other way round..)
