Airtel service and customer care has no regard for women safety! Horrific experience with Airtel!
Ordeal: last weekend I opted to transfer ownership of my number 7506501705 to my wife. We were given a new SIM and informed that the transfer will happen by 2 days max. Nothing happened for a week.
Problem: the transfer when it did occur happened when my wife was travelling to Delhi. For 3 days both the Sims are inactive. My wife cant make calls cant contact anyone, cant book cabs when travelling.
Customer care response: I called customer care multiple times.
Response of customer care:
First call I explained the situation, I was assured that this will be taken care of on a priority basis.Nothing happened for a day. That whole day my wife could not communicate with anyone. The Sims were dead, she could not even call Airtel.
Second call on evening of first day, a customer care executive tells me the procedure, that even I can activate it from my end.first had to wait up till my wife reached the hotel to get the sim number then used the details for 18001030405. Got a msg that the services will be activated and my wife needs to call 590.something. waited till next morning to tell my wife these details. Best part, she cannot call 590.whatever, she gets a msg stating that the number is temporarily suspended.
Day two call up customer, tell them the story.One guy takes to long to check, call disconnected. I tell the second person the same story, 20 mins later he transfer the call to supervisor, who says that the problem olis at our end, as we have not called 590 whatever.Despite the fact that I told her that my wife is not able to dial 590 whatever. And that she is travelling and this might be a safety issue.The supervisor tells me the problem is at my end. Zero empathy, mechanical support. Despite being a woman herself, this was the supervisors attitude.
Confirmed that the number is temporarily suspended for probably the 20th time, I call another executive.Repeat the entire story. This time, things get a bit clear.Seems to activate the sim the phone needs to be the local circle and not roaming! This is pure nonsense.What a stupid loophole! Next I explain it to the executive that something needs to be done as my wife still has a days travel left, u appeal to her to take up the matter on priority and try to fix it.No response yet. I myself have been travelling the entire day.This level of support and lack of empathy from Airtel is appalling.
