Airtel's Hairy Tale

I have used Airtel as a phone service provider in two metros so far.  Airtel, also like ICICI in my earlier review, has a customer service who continuously calls and asks you if you would like a second connection.  If you ask them about the poor service they provide for the first one, they say you have to talk to the complaints department.  The complaints department(and the email address) takes your complaint and promptly acknowledges your complaint by giving you a docket number.  Then, they completely ignore you and all the other docket numbers.  It’s a bit difficult to go and sit in their offices and watch their young people so entertainment is out of the question.

Moreover, they charge you an arm and a leg for their GPRS feature.  Idea on the other hand, in spite of those dumb ads, did a fairly good job of managing my account with them more or less painlessly(especially in comparison with Airtel) when I was living in a much smaller city.  So I use Airtel these days as therapy.  If I am in a very bad mood and one of those customer service representatives calls and tries to give me a second connection or claims they want to know my feelings about Airtel, I let them know exactly how I am feeling.  They hang up very quickly after that.  My mood improves a lot after those calls.

By the way, I spit on all those managers who are like that engineer in that ad who disregards the importance of his adult colleagues’ time in the middle of a job/meeting to go and do drawings with his kid daughter.  Family time is important but keep it separate from your job.  I should not have to wait for 20 minutes while “management” plays family man when his daughter calls her daddy while we all know what he’s doing with Rakhi down in Payroll.
