The NSX-S555 from Aiwa is a superb hi-fi.
It features a 3-disc multi-changer, double tape deck and a digital tuner with loads of presets. What is really good, given the reasonable price is the inclusion of powerful 4-way speakers complete with sub-woofers. And believe me, get a tune with some big bass and pump up the volume and you can feel this baby move.
One area that it does let down is higher frequency sounds, the speakers are fine for mid-low range but with no tweaters they can be a bit flat on the slower more instrumental tunes, and the hi-fi is clearly out performed by lower priced rivals in this range. An optional set of extra speakers solves this however, making a superbly complete system for the price.
The addition of a MD optical out makes it a good choice if you have an MD player, aswell as this the system can act as an alarm clock and even has a simple game feature on the display. The usual bass boost options are available as are 3 presets to shape the sound to suit to the music, although a little more control here would have been nice.
My unit has been reliable, although I have only had it for close to one year.
Overall this a brilliant system given the sub £200 price point, infact you should be able to pick it up for arounf £160 now.
