Ajab Prem Ki Ghajab Kahani

Nothing Ajab or Ghajab about it

Ho-hum! A very weak storyline flogged to death in previous box-office wash-outs: Loser middle class drop-out meets prim and propah miss who has her own predicament (choose one - evil admirer, orphaned, evil smuggler or politician father, broken home or terminal illness), finds new meaning to his life but unable to express his love for his paramour so goes through numerous situations for the sake of the damsel.

Girl loves some old schoolmate who will pop up later to conveniently complicate the scenario. Girl blissfully unaware of boy’s feelings though they are as subtle as a dropped brick. So after some stupid situations like almost marrying the ’wrong guy’, the girl suddenly ’realizes’ that the loser is the love of her life.

Moreover, even in this period of recession, we have a chump who can get ’naukri’ at the drop of a hat - all for the sake of impressing an airhead who is so busy waxing eloquent on dosti and pyar.

Had to stick it out because I was with the family - before the interval, I had already guessed the rest of the story and found the snack bar more attractive.

What was Ranbir Kapoor doing in a film like this? At the start of a promising career, Ranbir did’nt need this one. After delivering some good performances in the last few films did Katrina have to get into this?

I was surprised to note that it was a Rajkumar Santoshi film. Just a small bit of advice Mr. Santoshi, when you know you have a weak (or non-existent) storyline, a Mallika Sherawat or Rakhi Sawant would have been a better draw (a few more raunchy songs with foot-tapping music?). The only thing ajab was the rehash serving by santoshi and the only thing Ghajab was his guts to release such a damp squib
