TVS is on fire. After launching three new products back to back, it has set its eyes on making its presence felt in the green vehicle segment. According to our sources, the company is likely to launch the iQube hybrid scooter in India this year.
First unveiled to the world at 2010 Auto Expo, the iQube gets an 110cc petrol engine along with a hub-mounted electric motor with two battery options, 150Wh and 500Wh. The electric motor powers the scooter when it is below 20kmph. Once above that, the petrol engine kicks in to take care of the further performance. Both these instances are controlled by economy and power riding modes.
While the overall design of the iQube is likely to remain the same, TVS might play with some bright colours in order to make it more appealing and desirable. The Hosur-based manufacturer has been contemplating to launch this hybrid scooter since a long time but couldn’t find the automotive scenario and policies feasible. Now with the growing interest from the government and other manufacturers, TVS has decided to bring this most-awaited scooter to production.
