I did have a negative attitude when I rented this movie. The reviews of my trusted friends made me think twice to go to the theatre and watch this movie. So I rented this movie and I must say that it was not all that bad, though it was not all that good either. If I were in the theatre I would have made it out of the hall after the first half. :):)
About the movie ( what you can look forward to )
Another copy, another thriller, another big mistake. Directed by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra and produced by AB Corps and Flicks motion picture, this movie had a lot of good aspects but there were some negative points which has put a damper in the movie.
The story is a mixture of two hollywood movies. Face off and Fallen. A mixture of good and evil. The story would have been interesting had it not been for some lack of good direction.
The cinematography is good and the musical score is also quite okay in keeping with the theme of the movie. The songs yeh raat and aaja Gufaa me aaa is very well picturised. The action sequences is also portrayed well. The visuals were also quite impressive.
The cast is good and they have done a great job. The signature wicked laughter, the idiosyncrasies of the psychotic killer is well played by Manoj Bajpai. Amitabh has done a good job. He has matured to his age instead to going back to dancing around trees. I liked his performance in the movie. The subtle change from good to evil is impressive. Amitabh has a new look which adds to his personality. Raveena is as striking as ever. I must say that Raveenas performance is more credible than Nandita Das. Nandita Das was not very impressive. She looked out of her element in this movie.
The plot ( what will make you scream with frustration)
The plot is okay but in an effort to make it realistic the plot went haywire.
Amitabh ( Manu Varma) is the cop who is after a psychotic killer, Manoj Baijpai(Raghavan). When the killer is apprehended and is hanged till death, his spirit haunts Manu Varma and takes control over Manu Varmas actions. The story ends displaying how the human spirit is successful in gaining control over the evil spirit.
To the basic plot they have added references to the Bhagwad Gita and displayed strength of the human sprit against the spirit from the underworld. There is a quote which is repeated too many number of times from the Gita which grates on your nerves after a while.
The pace of the movie is very slow and well after a while it drags.... and I was glad I could fast forward the unnecessary parts. :):). The element of suspense is okay but it gets too repetitive to hold the audiences attention.
My suggestion
This movie starts well but it gets painfully boring and slow as it proceeds. I recommend you watch this movie in the video. You will be able to fast forward the boring parts and get the best of the movie. :):)
