Akshay Kumar has risen and survived for a very long time, he did give success initally with Khiladi, Mohra, MKTA, Yeh Dillagi, Suhaag, Elaan, Sabse Bada Khiladi, Khiladiyon Ka Khiladiyon, but he also had a long list of super duper duds that virtually ended his career, he survived even after the list of flops he gave, he continued to get lead roles, and after the several years of acting in powerful action movies with mindlowing stunts and fight sequences, it was time for him to move away from this image and prove himself as an actor. Akshay’s Turning point of his acting career started of from Sangharsh and Jaanwaar, which both were ctrically appreciated, whilst Jaanwaar became a semi hit, the other did averagely at the Box Office.
Then came comedy Hera Pheri, a mindlowing movie, Akshay shows of his talent in comedy, he gives a very good performance, Akshay stood out against mastered commedian Paresh Rawal. Then he tried his hand in a mature romantic movie Dhadkan, this time in a different avatar to Sangharsh and Hera Pheri. Akshay gave another fantastic performance and was nominated for best actor that year. That year of 2000 belonged to Akshay Kumar who did two different roles, Hera Pheri is hailed classic whilst Hirthik’s debut film Kahona Pyaar Hai is forgotten and Mohabatein is hated by the audiences today, he should of won the best actor award after giving two great performances in two different roles, but as we all know the awards have been unfaithful to Akki.
Akshay then ventured into family Drama EK-Rishtaa, yet another fantastic performance by him, he shares good chemistry with BigB, then he did his first negative role in Ajnabee. Akshay Nailed it, fantastic performance, he got under the skin of the character, and one will wonder, why didn’t Farhan choose akki for Don and god why did he pick SRK who is unfit for this type of role. Akshay then came with another good movie, Aankhen. Aankhen is considered one of the major trensetters to Bollywood commercial cinema’s as opposed to the typical love story I had to put up with. This movie was mindlowing, the plot and script of three blind men robbing a bank, wow. Akshay gave a good performance, his dramatic scenes with BigB is thrilling and leaves you under the edge of your seat.
Then came Khakee, another great performance, Akki deserved some awards, but yet again the awards have neglected him. Waqt, Namastey london, bhool bhuliya and Garam Masala has been his last best performances, all different characters and acting from one another.
As my Favourite 5 best films of Akki in no particular order are
Sangarsh
Hera Pheri
Khiladi
Dhadkan
Aankhein
Other consideration, Main Khiladi Tu anari, Khakee, bhool bhuliya, Jaanwaar, Garama masala.
