I am no BETA tester or a professional software consultant for that matter.But being in the hardware field of computers I am constantly at work trying out new Systems related software. My interest her is anti virus software but of a different kind.
I have worked with other AntiVirus software like Norton Symantec and Mcafee Anti Virus and even the F-Secure and AVP etc., they are good infact very good.
Lekin .......... there is always a LEKIN or KEENTU AND A PARANTU there in our Indian way of usage. All the above mentioned software make your P-II, P-III AND P-IV work like our good ol’ 200 MMX (P-I) Processors. No doubt the above mentioned Anti Virus have the duty of not letting any Known Virus attack through, but my friends most of the time we end up disabling them ’coz our applications run slow, the Internet goes for a Slow walk in the park etc., Now here I am using an Anti Virus for the past One year. Its called the E-SAFE.
Thoroughly Good..... Powerful..... FAST in identifying the Virus or Trojan or Bomb and Disinfects the same without much A-Do or damaging the File itself.
It works in a very simple manner. Sits in the memory and looks for Virus signatures of known Virii. Now, there is a point here.Known Virus signatures are no big deal. This one catches even those annoying Cookies which reside in the Temporary Internet files Folder and blast open to show them selves as bombs. The E-Safe antivirus also has a Firewall technique. This feature is especially good to Defend against Hackers and other Malicious Internet Activity. The Firewall lets your Internet Applications to operate only in a certain field.
Basically, for example if the Internet Explorer tries to connect to the internet without your command or the OutExpress tries to send out mail which is not assigned to it to do so... then this is a matter of concern. The E-Safe ka shield locks down the activity and waits for user approval. Isn’t that a good feature in this software... Which other AntiVirus as this feature ? E-safe also warns the user about an ILLEGAL change in the INTERNET BROWSER MAIN PAGE. Some sites we visit.. have the Active X command to change the Main Page to something else than the default. (When the Internet Browser is launched it directs itself to that site) This is activity is also deactivated until USER approval. Even unknown changes to the System files like System.ini and the Win.ini.
Where RECENT Virii like the NIMDA and Sircam made unwanted changes to the Autoexec.bat and System.ini and Win.ini files and the Windows Registry.
ALL THESE ACTIVITIES AND THE VIRUS DETECTION and/or UNWANTED SYSTEM INTRUSION lets off an ALARM thats as loud as a BURGLAR ALARM. No doubt the Alarm is really annoying but then you the PROTECTION WITH IT. All these features are not available in Norton or Mcafee or any other AntiVirus. Ofcourse the other Anti Virus do catch the Virus on entering the PC but not that effectively.
I have been using the Mcafee AntiVirus with the latest updates of both the Shield and the Virus Signatures but the Mcafee just refuses to stop NIMDA and Sircam frm entering the PC even though the most stringent of the options of online scanning are enabled.
The Updates for the E-Safe are regular. One is notified about the Update availability by E-mail and E-mail newsletter are flashed every fortnightly by the Aladdin software guys. FINAL VERDICT : GET THE ANTIVIRUS RIGHT NOW. Especially Recommended for PCs that are continously ONLINE and are susceptible to MALICIOUS ACTIVITIES.
