I admit that I was unlucky enough to be landed up to this fraudulent "Alfa Packers and Movers". I made an online query actually at "Agrawal Packers and Movers" late at night to shift my house locally in Bangalore but the next morning I got first call from Alfa’s. Mr. Harmendra Singh(9902668740) was prompt and courteous at the moment.
Later he came to my house in the evening with another guy and made a full n final quote of Rs. 4200/-. They also told us that replacement/repair of any damage to goods will be our responsibility. We were happy and satisfied to be able to find out such a cheap and seemingly good service.
On this, we made an advance payment of Rs. 500/-. But the real story started unfolding itself the next day when we were moving. They started shifting everything from 5th floor to ground floor using service lift which got stuck twice due to overload.
They forcefully pushed the 3 seater sofa inside the lift instead of taking it from the stairs, risking damage to it. Later saw them moving the fridge in an awkward position which could have damaged it internally. Luckily it escaped any such damage.
But they handled the washing machine very inefficiently. In the process, they damaged the drum inside and now after 3 days it is not operable.
Upon calling Mr. Harmendra Singh, he straight away refused to take any responsibility saying that it is not damaged and it is some internal problem and we can not claim for any technical fault to any thing like TV or fridge or any such thing. This was not enough.
The day we shifted, later he handed over a bill of Rs. 4719/- (including service tax). Which was nowhere mentioned over the phone before booking and also not mentioned in the quotation made.
They also took Rs. 500/- as security deposit for cartons which they brought for packaging since I din’t open up them right there and took out my stuff. This should be understandable that none can open up whole lot of cartons and give it back to them.
It takes time to settle down things in a newly moved house. In total we paid Rs. 1000/- extra apart from the damage to washing machine (Rs. 2000/- servicing cost).
I will be moving to consumer forum shortly against this pathetic, unprofessional service.
