The 2010 release of the Hollywood film, ‘Alice in Wonderland’ is directed by Tim Burton and produced of Disney, stars Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Michael Sheen, Stephen Fry, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter.
The Storyline
Alice(Mia Wasikowska) is a 19-year old girl who is about to get engaged reluctantly and runs down a tree hole, only to find herself in the ‘Underland’. She meets her childhood friends and realizes that she has an aim, which is, to return the crown to the White queen(Anna Hathaway) from the Red Queen Helena Bonham Carter).
She later returns back home only to find a new job in hand.
Johnny Depp has done a good job, actually the best among all. Mia looks good with all the furry, flarey dresses, growing and shrinking, but could have been sharper in her expressions. Animation is fun though could have been better. The art direction resembles that of ‘chronicles of Narnia’. There is nothing very interesting about this new series as it appears repetitive, with the all quirky characters.
The movie is different from the book but it is interesting to see normal human actions, 3D animation and cartoon flicks, all together. Of course, a must watch, for fairy and fantasy genre, movie lovers.
