The online library

Is there anybody out there who hasn’t heard of Amazon, the well known online store probably best known for its marvellous section on books, of every size, type and description?

I am an avid reader of every type of book, and while one of my little pleasures in life is still a good browse in a high street bookstore like Waterstone’s or W.H.Smith, this site can be brilliant in saving you both time and money.

I’ve yet to come across a title that I cannot find on Amazon, and all books are offered at a discount of about 20%.

There is a bit of a drawback here though. If you are ordering just the one book, then by the time the postage and packing are added on to the price, it is nearly back to the price you would pay in your local bookshop.

So the trick here is to purchase more than one book at a time, so as to take the best advantage of the money saving side of things.

Finding your way about the site is very easy, with every page having a navigation bar at the top of the screen that tells you where to go to find exactly what you’re looking for.

In books, there’s also a handy search facility, so if you’re not too sure what section to look under, just type the name of the book in here, and Amazon will find it for you in jig time.

There’s a review section as well, where people have left their reviews of the different books. You can even submit one yourself, and have the chance to win a prize. They don’t pay you for your review though, unlike here at Ciao.

Once you’ve found a book that you want to buy, you quite simply add it to your shopping basket.

When you’re finished choosing, you give them your credit card details and name and address, and that’s you done. Simple and easy.

Off course, with a site as reputable as this, you needn’t have any fear of giving out your credit card number. You only have to give it the once, and then they will hold it on their records for future reference.

Their delivery times are very good, and I’ve never had to wait more than a few days, on a couple of occasions even getting delivery the NEXT day, which is what they claim to be able to achieve.

I’ve only talked about books here, as it’s all I actually use the site for, but there are many other products available.

There are sections for CD’s, videos and DVD’s, video games and computer software, and even a Kids and Gifts department.

So whatever you might be interested in buying, the chances are you will find it, and at a good price, if you head for Amazon.
