Amazon used to be a fantastic company and indeed I have been a regular shopper for over a decade now. What it striking is just how bad the customer support has become recently. I have had a number of awful experiences, the latest one being in regard of a fault with my Kindle Paperwhite. I used the call me function on the website to request a support call - after identifying my device online.
When the call began the operative did not have the information on screen so I had to identify the device again. She then asked me one simple question about the nature of the fault and then immediately told me I would have to buy a replacement Kindle. There was no effort made to diagnose the problem or find a solution which doesnt involve me buying a new Kindle.
I am simply disgusted by this level of customer service. The person I spoke to was completely disinterested in helping.
