Went to this lovely restaurant called Amboli Bar & Kitchen located at Amboli(where else) in Andheri with my family.
Since Amboli serves Malwani food mainly.I believe the name is derived from the Malwani speciality Amboli and not the location.
For the uninitiated, Amboli is a kind of pancake which is a Malwani speciality(similar to the Neer Dosa).
Setting - Though narrow, the tables are well spaced and this allows you to gorge on the food the way you want it. Overall decor is pretty good.
Buffet - We opted for the Sunday Lunch Buffet.
I asked to check the menu first and was amazed to see the variety they offer for 400 bucks.
The crab meat soup was followed by amazing Bombil Bhaji / Pomfret fry / 2 chicken kebabs.all these served at your table.
The bombil(bombay duck) and pomfret were very fresh and very well prepared.
The starters went down well with the glass of wine which too is complimentary.
The main course had Bhuna Mutton / Crab Malwani Masala / Butter chicken and Methi Chicken which we had with Amboli.(all very good)
There were the usual salads, dahi wada & fresh fruits which unfortunately could not find a place on my plate!
For deserts it was gulab jamun and malai kulfi.
You guys must be wondering why I have not mentioned any of the veg starters or main course dishes.simple, I just didnt try any!
This is probably the best value-for-money buffet served in Mumbai currently.
Service was good too with all the stewards smiling and eager to help.
They have an extensive a la carte menu and also some happy hours at the bar.
Keep it up guys!
Am really looking forward to visiting this place soon & would recommend this place to everyone.
