Misleading customers and slamming heavy penalties

We have been using Amex for a while now. Many of my friends cancelled the card within few months of subscribing to it as they found the penalties unreasonably high and payment gateway extremely misleading. I hung on to it for a while due to the high amount of credit provided by the card.


They have changed their web interface 2 times since I subscribed to the card and it has only gotten more mi-leading. The minimum payment is displayed as Payment due! I paid the payment due for 2 months and to my horror realized on the third month that I had been paying only minimum dues and was charged financial charges of around 10, 000 for not having paid the full amount.


I called the customer service to clarify this and tried to tell them that I have been misled by their web interface. The customer service agent was extremely rude in accepting that the web interface was indeed mi-leading. They said that I had no choice but to pay the penalties.


I have decided to cancel this pathetic card and stay away from credit cards for a while. I will take a good amount of time before I decide to go with a new card.
