Well, its Radiohead. If you wanted to read this opinion becasue of the subject then you obviously like them. Its my opinion (duh) and I think that they are really good. REALLY good. They have gone back in time and stopped halfway between the style of Kid A and OK Computer. Despite being recorded at the same time as Kid A, this one takes a more emotional look at things, with it being soft, slow and deeply intaking. This is definately one of their better albums, I couldnt give a peticular order, but there you go.
As I listen to this now I write this in a way which I have done in the past: reviewing each individual song.
Packt Like Sardines In A Crushd Tin Box - 9/10 Very hard to get into and sounds a lot like a Kid A inspired song (wierd, artistic) the first time you hear this. But when you listen to this several times you think Wow, this reminds my of when I listened to OK Computer when it came out. The lyrics have deep meaning, if repetitive, and the main tune of it can get quite catchy.
Pyramid Song - 8/10 One of their main songs. The lyrics have been carefully thought about and the guitar has been replaced with the ol piano, again. This is a song to relate to, and like I mentioned before, belongs in between OK Computer and Kid A. It is slow and has a lot of meaning. Similar to others. Overall, one to listen to yesterday, if not before.
Pullk/Pull Revolving Doors - 6/10 Wierd. I think this should have been in Kid As collection, there is a wierd drum beat with the most powerful synthesiser ever. There is a bleepy sort of riff that can be heard in the background. Well, as a whole, listen to this, only if you decide to listen to the album all the way through.
You and Whose Army? - 7/10 Slow. This is really a song that says Why do you think you are so good? You think you are better than me, and this makes me feel sad. Since when are you as god as you say? and when you are down, or just in the mood for slow, soft music, then this song is perfect. Typical Radiohead stuff.
I might be wrong - 9/10 Great guitar use. The song is a bit more like The Bends, but a slower beat. The guitar riff is great and the singing is made of very good use, extremely good use when compared to Pullk.
Knifes Out - 9/10 Very good. The singing included in this really makes you feel like you are listening to OK Computer or The Bends. The singing is the main rold in this song, with a quiet beat and piano/guitar use in the background. One to really listen to, whenever really. Except when you have listenewd to it several hundreds of times. Any song is not worth listening to after that.
Amnesiac/Morning Bell - 9/10 Like Knifes Out, this makes very good use of singing, with a mellow beat and tune in the back. The lyrics are outstanding, and they got the pitch just right. One to - definately - listen to, if you are just getting into Radiohead. Highly Reccommended, whatever.
Dollars & Cents - 7/10 A bit of an expectancy. Influenced deeply by other songs on this, like Knifes Out and Amnesiac/Morning Bell. Good, but not great. Worth a listen though.
Hunting Bears - 6/10 The guitar use is good, but it can get a bit iritating, and is tempting to press the >> button the once. Another wierd song, this is insired directly from Kid A, it has no singing and a guitar and piano is used, With a synthesiser beeping thing.
Like Spinning Plates - 7/10 Another average song. Like others, it is good, but not great, and has deep use of mixing and synthesysing beeping noises. The low volume drum has an added effect to it aswell. Should go back to Kid A, personally it belongs there.
Life in a Glasshouse - 8/10 Remember National Anthem and how it used orchestra instuments? Well they are back - with a very good song to make. The lyrics are good, very deep and emotional, and the trumpets create a mood or an atmoshpere whioch is hard to describe. An excellent outroduction to an excellent album. Overall - 9/10 Wierd, slow, soft, catchy, sad, old, enchanting... Buy it.
