Joy... Happiness...

Joy… Happiness… I saw the movie ages ago and have seen it over n over a number of times but still wouldn’t refuse to see it again. That’s what a real movie is… or so I believe. Apart from being entertaining a movie also needs to have substance n some story to tell. Take my word for it, Anand is just the movie that has the right to be voted the very pioneer n shining star of the Hindi cinema.

The story about a man struggling with an incurable disease with a smidgen part of his life left for him to live. The way he embraces life & rejoices it. The character has been portrayed in a heartrending accuracy & the feelings have been subtle but profound the very kind that leaves a person lost for words n touched to the very core. The lead played by Rajesh Khanna eulogizes his acting ability in this case. Primarily a romantic actor he has been brilliant in the depiction of the disposition of the precedence. Amitabh Bacchan, a man who doesn’t need an introduction as being the very best the Indian cinema has produced, plays the part of his (Rajesh Khanna) physician to the hilt who is also a friend along-with being a doctor. Rest is for the movie to divulge… but I think it gives us a picture of what the movie really is.

I think this is the only (or at least one of the very few) movie in Bollywood in which the lead actor dies. A movie where the main character is not invincible with great virtues but a human with faults n feelings. According to me this movie is a must see for all those who admire talent n acting & wish to see an actor act to the very best of his abilities and watch a movie that touches his very soul. And also for those cynics (is that the right word...?) who believe that the Indian cinema contains nothing but melodrama & a movie is not complete without a love interest (though this one also does contain one…) and is just a superficial & a disappointing depiction of the English movies.
