Anandi Gopal Movie review:
A movie that captures the journey of rebellion, strength and determination beautifully.
Anandi Gopal is a movie that will touch your heart because it is a beautiful depiction of a person who is willing to fight for the right cause.
Anandi Gopal stars:
Anandi Gopal stars Bhagyashree Millind and Lalit Prabhakar in the lead roles and the movie is directed by Sameer Vidwan.
Anandi Gopal story:
Anandi Gopal is a biopic of the first female doctor of India and her story is really unique and beautiful because of the push she got from her radical reformist husband. Her parents plan to marry her even though she is just a child to the postmaster Gopal Joshi, but they are shocked when he says that he will marry her only on the condition if she pursues her studies after marriage. Great right?
Towards the beginning of the movie Gopal is a bit cruel and his tough love does not go down to well with Anandi, but later on she realizes why her husband is being the way he is and later you can clearly see that Anandi becomes her own person and her identity shines on brightly with the support of her husband.
Anandis and Gopal’s journey has not been easy because of the social ostracism that women and their families who let women move out of the house faced, but Gopal’s determinism to beat these Brahmin orthodoxy and superstition is marvelous.
The production and costume portray the past with perfection. Their background music is distracting and takes away from the scene at times and sometimes there is unnecessary use of dialogue. But keeping these flaws aside, the movie has a great script and will make you wish that you had someone who is as encouraging as Gopal Joshi in your life.
