Davinci code's prequel

I never knew about this author until all the hungama over ’’Davinci code’’ happened. But I must say, Dan Brown doesn’t disappoint people. His narrative style is excellent and he keeps the readers on tenderhooks

Angels and Demons is the third Brown book I read ( davinci and deception point being the other two). This book is supposed to be the prequel to Davinci code.

The hero is Robert Langdon , a Harvard Professor and a cryptologist who gets into the adventure when he is called upon a murder scene to investigate about the historic anti church group called ’’ILLUMINATI’’. How he goes about solving the mystery and bringing out the truth forms the rest of the story

The conflict between science and religion has always been a long drawn one with no group in particular scoring over the other. The author has guts taking up that topic for a book and I must say he has balanced it well. The concept of ambigram was superb and I was really amazed by the 5 ambigram words. As usual, Dan brown is extremely descriptive of the vatican architecture and u get a feeling of having visited the Vatican city . This book is also packed with extra ordinary facts which is an ocean of knowledge.

On the negative side, this book has lots of similarities to Davinci code . Both start with gruesome murders and both the heroines are blood relations to the victim. There’s a cripple who plays a key role in both the books. But the final twist in angels and demons is really worth it.

However, I feel Dan Brown doesnt know to finish a book . The ending of the book is no match for the pace and the build up the author gives initially.

All in all, a very good book to read and cherish.
