In Dan Browns book, Angels and Demons, we find that good will always conquer evil, no matter what. Langdon, the main character, is a dynamic person. He changes from a regular college professor to a hero who ends up saving Vatican City and religion in general. His partner, Vittoria, a scientist he encountered en route to his unexpected adventure proves to be a helpful ally, who ultimately turns into his love interest. She provides him with a new outlook on both science and religion, a tool that help him uncover many important clues.
A minor character in the story is the camerlengo, right hand man of the late Pope. He is also a dynamic character who is very passionate about the church and his love for religion hazes his interpretation of what is good and what is evil. A major conflict in the story is a substance more powerful than any atomic or hydrogen bomb ever invented being stolen from a lab. The thief then threatened to have it explode in Vatican City, killing many important religious figures and destroying the history of religion. The consequence of such an act would be the end of the Roman Catholic religion.
The irony of the story is that a character is killing innocent people in vein. He thinks that he was called upon a very powerful and ancient group, believed to have become extinct, to carry out a very devious plan that would bring them out of exile. He believed that it would be to avenge those who had suffered against religious oppression, only to find out that the fruits of his labor would be to do the exact opposite.
