I am a person who is interested in cooking new dishes for family and friends. I cook during my free time. In my quest for new recipes, I took this particular BookAnglo Indian Food & Customs by Patricia Brown from the local library. I was really captivated by the way the information was presented in the book.
After I returned the copy to the library, I wanted to purchase the book. After many days of googling, I purchased the book from Hindu Shopping. I got it as a gift for wifes birthday.
I made 2 cakes and caramel custard pudding for my wifes birthday from the instructions on the book. It was an instant hit with family and friends.
The book starts off with the history of the Authors childhood experience. The author was raised in Goa in an Anglo-Indian Family and hence the name of the book. As a preface to every section, the author has given careful attention to describe the history of the dishes included. The recipes come after the history. As the history is emblazoned in your memory, you can visualize the surroundings while making the dishes. You can even feel the surroundings as described in the book, grabbing you by the senses such as smell.
The book is a well organized one that is a must-have for every household or person who are interested in trying out various recipes.
Wish all the owners of this book happy culinary times!
