I happened to visit the Anjappar Restaurant - Coimbatore sometime back as it was the ‘in-demand’ South Indian Non-Veg eatery in town. We a set of 5 people after being in the wait-list for 10 minutes, got a table.
After checking on the menu we ordered quite a few dishes from both starters & Dry to Gravies including Biryani (we wanted to try as many dishes as possible and share them across). But the food was not impressive as the Biryani was just another plain damn salty and oily pulav . It had no flavor except the strong masala smell. Most of the dry dishes (Chicken & Mutton) we ordered tasted the same with only the color being different (Light Yellowish brown to Deep Brown) and same applies for Gravy dishes. It is near impossible to differentiate between the Chicken and Mutton curries (Gravy).
For all the hype out there, they offer nothing special; as rates were very high, ambiance a bit noisy and interior décor that is OK. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone of my friends or relatives who wants to try authentic Tamil Nadu Non-Vegetarian Dish (for which this restaurant is known for). But still the staff service is good (Way better that a typical Coimbatore restaurant ) and the Meals you get there is also good.
