Movie-Ankahee
In the modern India, in spite of amazing success in every walk of life, I still feel vague instructions can never be in vogue. Something, which is unsaid forever, is most of the time ignored. A perception can never be appreciated by all. The number of culture is the same as the number of people in the world. In this respect! Ankahee is unable to Create a blast and a good impact in public. Actually to some extent, this bold step of Vikram Bhatt to execute a story of an extramarital affair in such a somewhat conservative society, can go against the popular public sentiment and can create controversy. Though I feel ‘ANKAHEE’ IS THE BEST MOVIE I”VE EVER SEEN BEFORE.
Ankahee is a melodrama and shows a feeling of realism when it is expressed by a human-life. Doctor Shekhar Saxena [Aftab Shivdasani] is a successful surgeon spends happy married life with his wife, Mrs. Nandita Saxena [Ameesha Patel] and daughter Sheena. One day he comes across a totally isolated and depressed Miss World Kaavya Krishna [Esha Deol], who tries to commit suicide and gets hospitalized with a serious injury in her wrist. [Somewhat the injury seems to be unreal]. As per his duty he possesses a responsible approach to all his patients and treats them like a friend but in this case, Kaavya’s emotional injury when goes beyond of that physical one, it creates a long-lasting impact in Shekhar’s feelings. So an unexpected spontaneous relationship grows old in them based in their intellect which the previous one lacked, Shekhar leaves his Wife and child for his true love, Kaavya. But from the beginning, emotionally isolated and insecured Kaavya makes Shekhar blast into strong feelings and her true ecstasy about Shekhar turns into confusion and she kills herself. The Incredibly tragic climax ends with a total destruction of Shekhar’s emotional balance losing all from his life.
Here I find none as guilty. Shekhar never ignored his responsibility to his family and did everything what he could. He also did not sacrifice his true feeling and showed full respect to his love, Kaavya. In this Character, Aftab Shivdasani is incredible. Esha Deol does nice as Miss World Kaavya Krishna. The different emotions in different period of her life, depression, love, insecurity, don’t care concept seems to be presented perfectly by her. But Ameesha Patel is a total disgust in the whole movie. The strong background of her character as Mrs. Shekhar Saxena reaches her weakest point and over reacting ruins the charm. But for the line of the character itself may have got the sympathy of majority.
The movie itself may have not received the sympathy but the bold ending that Shekhar never goes back and respects his feelings to the end of his life ignoring all social norms may left vast conservative people unsatisfied but the true essence of the movie is successful to create a real perception…love is love, love is life, never sacrifice it…. because it is precious. Music is haunting and sensuous. Camera is incredible. At the end….’Ankhon me anjaane rehte manzar kahin…….Kuch baatein Ankahee’, seems to be the strongest yet vague part of the entire storyline. I wish, we’ll be getting such amazing gifts from Vikram Bhatt in future also which are never made to business but to receive a little emotion, a little tears for the person…. who leaves the world without voicing his suppressed sentiments, without saying what is unsaid, Ankahee.
