An IIT love story

Tushar Raheja, a 4th year engineering student from IIT, encompasses hislove story in a very interesting way. The story begins with the usualpanorama of a engineering student’s life revolving around college, friends, love and family. The peculiar professors, stagnating lectures, backbenchers, very naturally remind you of the other novels by IITians, specially 5 point someone, giving a testimonial of their collegememoirs. If you haven’t read them, then this will be an interestingread for you. But in case you already have gulped down enough of IITengg. life through novels, you require some determination to go on withthis initially.

The writer very regularly and smoothly keepsswinging between the past and present of his life.I wonder why theIITian novel writers are so obsessed with this style of writing.

Thelove story beings in very quintessential bollywood style - middle classguy meets a rich and beautiful girl. The beauty of the girl isdescribed in the akka bollywood poetic style. And you feel the storyflowing as expected. But just when you’cant help losing your interest, the twist in the story ignites your curiosity.Very soon the storyimbibes you in its grips.

Anddon’t be mistaken with the first twist, thinking that it can’t be anymore filmi.Because the plethora of twists and surprises that ensue keepyou completely thrilled and enticed. Every time you encounter a twist, you think that this is the height of coincidence that can happen tosomeone. And you just cant overcome it, when the next twist overwhelmsyou. Its like a hierarchy of coincidences, each surpassing the other. But what is worth appreciating is that the author manages to outlinethe details of every incident with such finesse that the credibility ofthe coincidences remains intact. To convince the reader that life canbe so full of coincidences seems a Herculean task, but the authorpulls it off pretty well.

Andwith every chapter your curiosity multiplies exponentially. You becomeso engrossed with the events that you are desperate to witness thefinal re-union of the love birds.

The description of the IITprofessor will certainly remind you of one of your professors/teachersin life. The bunking of the classes, hostel life, late night boozeparties, the insurmountable aura of girls in college, the canteen willmake you feel nostalgic. No matter how many times you have been throughdiscussing these points of life, the narration will absorb you backinto those days.

One will very well be able to connect to everyincident, because it must have happend to you, or to one of yourfriends, or friends’ friend or.But have you ever seen or heard allthe overwhelming incidents happening to one person alone. If not thengrab this one and you can only marvel at the designs of fate.
