There is no law against telling the truth. So here is the truth. The short version is that Dr. Sibabrata Banerjee of Apollo Hospital is a trash human and a dangerous, greedy doctor: your life is only worth a few rupees in his hand. He graduated from the infamous RG Kar Medical College & Hospital and the equally bad NRS Medical College & Hospital. He doesnt have basic medical knowledge and his intentions are not good: the sicker the patient gets, the money he makes. I have several blood test reports he ordered that showed dangerous levels, but this doctor didnt even bother to read them himself: he left that to his students and then prescribed medication that made me even sicker. No sane doctor would do this. As another poster said, medicine is a human enterprise, subject to the best and worst of human instincts, and this doctors instinct is greed. Life is cheap in this part of the world, and people like him can operate with impunity and total disregard for human life. In developed countries, he would have lost his medical license long ago and been sued into oblivion. The long review is below.
Dr. Sibabrata Banerjee of Apollo Hospital in Kolkata is an exceptionally bad, greedy, incompetent, and rude doctor: If this doctor can in any way profit from you, including your death, he will facilitate it. This man consistently overlooks critical test results, delaying crucial interventions until its too late. This is nothing short of criminal negligence. You might feel reassured because he works in a big hospital, but a false sense of security is dangerous. Its like wearing shoes with a subtle defect: At first, theres minor discomfort or a faint squeak thats easy to ignore. Over time, however, the unnoticed problem escalates until the whole sole suddenly falls off the shoe, leaving you vulnerable at the worst moment. Similarly, by the time patients realize how Dr. Sibabrata Banerjee operates, its too late: Severe irreversible consequences have already occurred that will have lifelong residual effects. Now the doctor refuses to even speak to you, and you end up in the hospital ER because of his negligence and greed.
Here is my FULL review:
My check-ups with Dr. Sibabrata Banerjee at Apollo Hospital left me disappointed. When you visit his chamber, his assistant collects your test reports and asks you to wait outside, like a houseboy. Once youre inside, your reports are returned. They digitally scan and store these reports, as the doctor and his students are able to access your current and previous test results without you having to provide the physical reports. All this is done without your knowledge or consent. This may seem harmless, but this doctor is a panel doctor of insurers who are notorious for claim denials.
Upon entering Dr. Sibabrata Banerjees chamber for the first time, I saw the doctor was surrounded by an entourage of medical students, who acted as his minions. The doctor orders tests, and these students are tasked with reading the test reports and spotting problems. I guess consulting with patients for 4 minutes at Rs. 1, 200 a pop isnt enough, so, for extra cash, this doctor tutors a bunch of wealthy medical school students in his chamber.
Every time I visited this doctor, his room was full of students, but he neither introduced them to me nor asked for my permission for them to be there. Medical ethics say that medical information is private and can only be shared with the consent of the patient. Ethics is not this doctors strong point: I was paying him for his consultation, and he was using me as a guinea pig to train his students for personal gainwithout my knowledge or consent. He showed a lack of interest and conveyed the impression that I am beneath his consideration. Perhaps this intimidates other patients and prevents them from asking anything, including, "Who are these young people lingering in your chamber?"
A doctor is supposed to ask the right questions; not take his patients for granted. However, in this case, the doctor fails to ask anything, and he makes it difficult for you to even ask your own questions. How are you going to discuss your problems in front of a group of strangers? I understand that life is cheap in this part of the word, but treating patients like gut flora should not be encouraged.
Despite collecting Rs. 1, 200 for his consultation, he always relied on his students to assess my test results. The students were tasked with finding warning signs and anomalies in my tests, but they missed critical indicators because they really didnt care about me, the guinea pig. They were more interested in playing on their pricey laptops that their wealthy parents had purchased for them to carry to private tuition. The doctor himself does not even bat an eye, even if your test results are way off. Its his students job to find anomalies in your tests, and that is what they are paying the doctor for. People go to good hospitals to see doctors because there is no shortage of frauds in the part of the world, but this guy is abusing his power and milking his patients for everything he can get out of them.
After a 4-minute consultation, during which the doctor may or may not speak, the doctor asks you to step outside his chamber while he prepares your prescription and a list of tests for your next appointment. I assume he briefs his students about your condition during this time. When I was waiting outside the doctors door for the paperwork, I couldnt help but feel that I was being used a guinea pig without my consent. Finally, after a few minutes, his assistant comes out and hands over the prescription and test list to you. I do not know who writes the prescription because it is printed, but I have noticed numerous errors in the prescription. The test list always contains the same tests, a simple cut-and-paste job.
Tell me, does any other doctor ask you to wait outside his chamber like a houseboy while he prepares your prescription and test list?
Civilized people are taught since childhood to respect other peoples privacy and always seek permission before sharing their sensitive information. This fundamental principle is called CONSENT, but consent is NOT a concept these doctors are familiar with. Medical malpractice is pretty common in India. Here is acclaimed doctor Dr. Sandeep Guleria running an illegal kidney harvesting operation from Apollo Hospital-(fix the URL or just Internet search):

This is what happens when children are not raised properly. I blame their parents for their misbehavior.
Apollo Hospitals social media squads are very busy, even going so far as to write nonsense in an attempt to justify the medical malpractice, greed, and misbehavior of their doctors. If you visit their Google Maps profile, you can see a dark pattern. Just sort the reviews by-Latest First and you can see a consistent influx of fake reviews being posted on Google by Apollo Hospitals, maybe a hundred per day-(refer to my image below). You can see 5-star reviews being posted in real-time every few minutes, one after the other, bam bam bam. The timestamps on these fabricated purchased reviews provide evidence of their falsity. Apollo Hospital is writing the fake reviews and congratulating themselves on itits quite pathetic! SEE THE FULL SIZE IMAGE FOR THE TIMESTAMPS!
