I worked for Applebees for 10 years. I was an hourly employee for 5 years and a General manager for 5 years. Numerous reviews about the food being kept out of refrigeration until it needs to be cooked is 100% correct depending on which applebees you choose to eat at. Applebees uses expired food and serves it to their guests. They train their employees to take off the expired label and put on a new label. Certain ones in the bay area refuse to get the insect/cockroach problem taken care of because they have a certain amount of money to spend each month on this, and if they go over for the month, the rest comes out of the bonus money for the entire management staff.
Dont think for a minute that the guest come first at Applebees. The owners money comes first, and then the managements money comes next. The management does whatever is necessary (following food saftey measures or not). Most of the management staff doesnt have a clue as to what they are doing. They get paid 25k-80k depending on what level of management they are in. You can expect somebody working 50 hours per week, making 25K per year to truly care about the guests that come in to eat, can you? With economic times like these, you better think twice about going to Applebees.
They are trying everything they can to squeak out a profit, but in the meantime, they are sacrificing the guests health by turning a blind eye to food safety issues.
Its your choice.
