I have switched from HTC HD to iPhone 4; I am a vibrant user of mobile phones ;). Now, I am using the iPhone 4 for last 5 months.
Below are my experience with my iPhone :
Why you choose it ?
As I mentioned earlier, I want to switch over from windows Phone to iPhone 4 and Apple has improved its functions compared to its earlier models (3g and 3gs).
Where you bought it and How much?
Switzerland and with "Orange" service provider. Paid 430 CHF, closed my eyes when I was paying the amount because the conversion rate is 48 Rs for 1 chf :(
And with 2 years contract, monthly paying 45 CHF with 1 GB of internet (Of course with 3G service)
First Experience:
Micro SIM installation, I felt it’s quite easy to install. However, afraid about the availability of micro SIM.
Switched on, Grrr it asked for SIM Pin, which was provided with service provider package.
And now its Apples turn, I saw the information that, I need to connect to iTunes and Register. (Monopoly of Apple). You need to register with Apple to work further with the phone.
Also, you need to register in iTunes to download applications and to upgrade your OS.
Done the Registration Voila... my finger was doing ballet on the screen its smooth as cheese compare to my HTC HD.
Like a Greedy dog, downloaded all the possible free applications and still exploring.
Pros
- Plenty of applications for entertainment (TV, Books, news paper, internet radio, some weird :) etc.)
utilities (Measurement conversion, measure the dimension of the things in front of your camera, barcode reader, my favorite Google goggle to translate the text in other language just by clicking the camera over the text. Maps, train times, VOIP applications etc.), Games (Phew plenty). TV applications.
Battery life is amazing with the average use of 40 songs, 2 hours of calls and 1 hour browsing, it will go down from 100% to 60% and charging battery is rapid. You can charge the phone fully from 0 - 100% within 90 mins with IOS 4.3.
Voice clarity is good and I was afraid of the known bug in iPhone 4 of the reception antenna (If you hold the phone firmly at the top corners, the phone signal will slowly reduce you can search lots of info about this in the internet) But I have not experienced it.
connecting to WLAN is sweet, the phone will search for each n every free spots and give the options to you.
Google MAPS and street view (in Some places) is amazing to search for the spot.
Pros Goes on...
CONS:
No Video call over 3g to other phones (You can use some applications like Skype, fring etc.)
Face time is a cheat, this will work only for iphone and only with WLAN. There is no support for 3G.
Huge Price.
Most of the free applications will load with advertisements and eats your internet usage.
No FM Radio.
You cant delete the call log my category or just a single call.
Android is a very good competitor for IOS they have the similar features and plenty of free applications. (Which ever charged in Appstore they are free in Android Market?)
Verdict:
Quite good phone with the beefy price. If you jail break, my most of the points mentioned in the Cons will be removed, amazing touch experience. Easy to use even for kid... no need to be a tech savvy.
Thank you,
Dina
