Well I have heard a lot about iPods and was a huge sucker to buy one. It was only till the last year that I finally became a proud owner of the most desired media gadget that I could ever dream of.
I usually read reviews at mouthshut and find them really helpful so I thought of making some contribution.I purchased iPod in November of 2008, I bought iPod Classic the 160 GB one!!
I was little confused while I was about to make a decision at the shop but I certainly am not regretting my decision now. It is one the most beautiful thing ever furnished with its brushed aluminium and stainless steel all metal enclosing it makes an immense first impression, its pretty heavy which may take a head spin for any first timer.
Battery life is pretty decent I think Apple claims it to be 8 hours but according to me I usually use it for 2.5 hours a day and only recharge it once a week making an average discharge time of 17 and a half hours at that time also the batterys not completely discharged. I am over satisfied with this performance and I usually view videos on daily basis on it.
Sound quality is where nothing can beat an iPod, its really marvelous and if you can afford bose surround in-ear phones and live for music then this device is heaven for you, and youll really become addicted to it. Ease/Convinience of usage; user interface: this is what apple stands for with user-machine platform beyond your expectations, if you use this device once then every other gadget other than iTouch or iPhone would seem like objects of medieval times.
Its got a pretty good storage capacity and could nearly swallow anything and could be used as an external hard disk. Now the Limitations or the negative side; **Cons: The device is near perfect but still lags somewhere. Due to mechanical Magnetic Hard Disk it vibrates whenever accessing it. The device heats up when used for continuously over 7 hours, or when charging from zero to full.
Well apple dont provide any supplementary accessories like AC charger, AV cable or anything of sort. If your inbuilt battery pisses out then you are left with no other option then to keep iPod as a mere showpiece, well theres another also throwing it into garbage.
The iPod real quarantined, its really the pain in the @$$, you can synchronize your iPod from only one authorized computer only, to overcome this you can save whatever you like in ipod by enabling disk use and then when you get back to your authorized computer upload it via iTunes but requires a whole lot of labor something which could have been easily achieved.
The powder coated brushed aluminium finishing if scratched looks way too ackward. The mirror finish stainless steel back gets scratched no matter how carefully you handle. Factory provided ear phone failed during the second month of service but were replaced free of cost from apple service center.
Note: Well Ive dropped my ipod twice once from the stairs it fell two floors down although the screen and front finish is scratched the device works perfectly flawlessly. Its a real Go! go!! goo!!! device if you like music and have a real large collection for the same.
