My first iPod

Two days ago I had received my first Apple iPod nano RED. It has cool 8 GB flash based memory and it can play videos too. I am very much fascinated by its red colour. It is a third generation Apple iPod nano.

You require to download and install the latest iTunes software, which is available for free from Apple’s website. The software and iPod interfaces are very user-friendly and intuitive.

But I miss FM very much in it. Apple should include a FM receiver in iPods soon. Its headphone is not really as cool as the nano is. Rest of the nano is simply irresistible. I simply love it. I had ordered the Red one, which you can only order from online Apple store, and they offer you a free two line engraving with what text you provide to them. So in this manner, you nano becomes a personalised gadget of yours. It is the most cool, chick and stylish gadget that I had owned, so far.

Nano’s sound quality sounds just middle-of-the-road but video performance steels the show. You get more than 20 equalization presets to choose from, ranging from subtle enhancement to dramatic bass boosting. AAC files purchased through iTunes are supported, of course, as well as MP3, Apple lossless, AIFF, WAV, and Audible files. Although, sound quality still leaves room for improvement but its fidelity will certainly satisfy most users. It supports H.264 or MPEG4 video in either MOV, MP4, or M4V file formats, with a maximum resolution of 640x480 at as much as 30 frames per second. Nano allows for the manual addition and deletion of music and video files. It can easily be used as a USB flash drive.

It offers a good battery life, Apple rates the battery life at 24 hours for audio playback and 5 hours for video, which is sufficient for most of us, I feel.

Nano comes equipped with 3 games right out of the box: Solitaire, iQuiz, and Vortex and you can buy more games at iTunes store. It gets charged with a USB data cable, which comes bundled in the box. I do miss the standard charger. But, you can purchase a USB based adaptor which can be connected to power point. By using this, you do not require to switch on your computer for charging you Nano.

iPods also lack support for additional memory card.

Nano is worth the every single penny you have spent on. This MP3 player is not perfect, but with the addition of video support it’s definitely one of the best flash players available in the market right now. The third generation iPod Nano is available in a variety of colors and either a 4GB or 8GB memory capacity. If you plan on watching lots of video, I definitely recommend getting the 8GB rather than the 4 GB model. These new iPods are reasonably priced too.
